Arthritis Pain Relief

Arthritis Pain Relief - Diet for Arthritis - Arthritis Home Remedies - Joint Pain Reliever - Prevent Arthritis | Tips on - Find TipsA large number of elderly men and women suffer from arthritis. The excruciating pain that arthritis patients experience at the inflamed joints, force them to take painkiller drugs. However, given the large number of adverse effects of painkillers on the various body organs, especially their propensity to damage the kidneys, make these medicines unsuitable for long time consumption. In such circumstances, we could safely switch over to home remedies that would help in pain relief without any harmful side effect.

Apply hot and cold packs

Applying hot and cold compresses alternately on the inflamed joint would reduce the swelling and consequently the pain. Each pack should be applied for at least 20 minutes.

Add four tablespoon of Epsom salt to warm water and pour it gently over the affected area to reduce the swelling.

Home made balms

There are a number of home made balms that when massaged gently over the affected area, reduces the pain. Add any of the following oils – garlic, juniper, lavender, sage, rosemary, thyme or sassafras to olive oil, in a proportion of 1:10, and apply on the inflammation.

To 200 grams of mustard oil add 10 grams of camphor and tightly close the bottle to prevent the camphor from evaporating. Place this mixture in sunlight, for a few hours, allowing the camphor to dissolve in the oil. Gently massage the joints with this oil.

Home made herbal medicines

Consuming 6 to 50 grams of freshly ground ginger everyday acts as a pain reliever.

The daily diet of arthritis sufferers should be rich in calcium, zinc, vitamin C and omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil. To prevent the debilitating pain, always ensure that you do not suffer from constipation. To clear bowel movements include leafy green vegetables in your daily meal. Consume a mild laxative daily or occasionally if you are prone to constipation.

Prepare a drink by mixing two teaspoons of pectin to 1 – 3 ounce of grape juice and consume it twice every day. This helps to alleviate the pain.
