Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque

Overlooking the town and the adjacent stilt village, the mosque stands in the middle of an artificial lagoon. The ornate Islamic architecture, the minarets and the dome made of gold are the key features of this mosque.

Tomb of Sultan Bolkiah

The fifth sultan of the current reigning dynasty of Brunei was known for his love for music and war. He therefore was called the “singing admiral”. His tomb is a key attraction of the country.

Museums

The royal chariot and the royal crown that is worn by the Sultan during his coronation, along with other items associated with regality are displayed in the Royal Regalia Building. The traditional art and crafts of the country are exhibited in the Brunei Museum and the Malay Technology Museum.

Kampong Ayer

Just outside the capital of Brunei is located this “water village” of the country. This has the largest number of stilt houses in the country. Despite its traditional rustic architecture, you would discover many of the houses equipped with modern facilities, including internet connections.

Beaches

Brunei is dotted with beautiful beaches and islands around the Brunei Bay. These are great spots to enjoy a wide range of water sports, including scuba diving, jet skiing, wake boarding, water skiing, swimming, fishing, sailing and yachting. You might also enjoy playing traditional games, such as Gasing and kite flying. The popular beaches of Brunei are Kuala Belait, Lumut Beach, Muara and Serasa. You can take a boat from Muara to arrive at Pulau Selirong, which is an island with abundant mangrove vegetation. This island has a rich wildlife with kingfishers, macaques, eagles and proboscis monkeys.

Tasek Merimbun

This largest lake of Brunei is a great hiking spot. Visitors come here to picnic and to watch birds.
