While the movements can be used as a means of self-defense, its primary purpose is to increase our Chi or the natural life force that we all possess.

Pilates is another non-traditional exercise that can give us more flexibility and balance. It can be done on a mat using an exercise ball to give the resistance that is needed to build strength or just by using the floor to perform the same function.

These three disciplines could be a valuable addition to your daily routines in the gym and could make your workouts more efficient and productive. The flexibility and balance that you can obtain from these could give you just the right balance between power and flexibility.
