Only fresh fruit, vegetable juices and water are consumed in juice diet. Solid food is prohibited. You should stop consuming meat, eggs, fish, sugar, alcohol, flour products and caffeine one week before starting the juice diet. While on the juice diet, you can drink between 50 and 70 ounces of juice every day. Along with juices, you should also drink 8 to 10 glasses of water. Canned juices or juices made from canned fruits and vegetables should be avoided. You should make juices from fresh fruits and vegetables. Consume the juices as soon as they are made. Consumption of fresh juices helps intake of all the vitamins, minerals and enzymes present in the drinks.

The fruits and vegetables best suited for the juice diet are tomato, cabbage, zucchini, lettuce, carrot, cucumber, squash, lettuce, beet celery, apple, pineapple, cranberry, melons and any green vegetable and sprouts.

Avoid pomegranate and grapefruit juices during this period, because certain components present in these juices would act upon certain body chemicals that might not be beneficial for the body during a fast. It is advisable to avoid juices of citrus fruits such as cherries, banana, peaches, apricots, potato and yam.

Do not change over to a solid diet immediately after you finish juice diet, but a gradual conversion to semi-solid diet that eventually leads to the normal solid diet is good for the physical health.
