One of best remedies for nasal congestion is to inhale smoke of cardamom seeds. For this purpose, a person can take a teaspoon full of cardamom seeds and can place it over hot coals. Fumes thus formed can be inhaled for getting relief.

A nasal rinse can also be prepared at home for getting relief from nasal congestion. For this, a person can take a half cup of warm water in which few drops of grapefruit seed extract is poured. This mixture can be inhaled two to three times in a day. Great relief is felt if this mixture is inhaled at the bed time and after waking up in the morning.

One of most common home remedies for nasal congestion is made from water and salt. A person can boil water in a sterilized container. Some salt is added to this water and as it becomes warm, two or three drops can be put into each nostril with the help of a dropper, with eyes looking at the roof. Once this solution reaches throat, it can be blown out of nostrils to get relief from nasal congestion.

One of effective remedies for nasal congestion is made from water, salt and baking soda. A person can take a cup of warm water and can add fourth spoon of baking soda and salt each. With one nostril closed with finger, a person can squirt some drops and let them drain back. Similar treatment is given to other nostril also. When carried out for two to three times a day, a relief is felt.

While trying above remedies, a person must avoid food items like ice creams, pasteurized cheese and other cheese preparations etc.
