How To Make Stuffed Cabbage Rolls - Homemade Stuffed Cabbage Rolls RecipeStuffed cabbage rolls are traditionally a European dish which is stuffed with variety of non vegetarian mixture. These rolls are loved by people from all over the world. There are lots of variations in the fillings – you get cabbage rolls stuffed with Egg, pork, Beef, Paneer, Potatoes, Rice, Vegetables etc.

Today we will make a vegetarian filling for these cabbage rolls. These vegetarian stuffed cabbage rolls are so awesome that believe me once you eat it you will feel like eating it again and again. So let us make this delicious and mouthwatering recipe in a typical Indian style.


1 1/2 cups Paneer mashed
10 Cabbage Leaves, large
½ cup Potatoes – boiled and mashed
1/2 cup Green peas boiled
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp Lemon Juice
1 cup Bread Crumbs
1 tsp Cumin Seeds
2-3 Cloves
1 small piece Cinnamon stick
4 Cardamom (small)
1 tsp Black pepper
2 Onions medium
2 Green Chilles
Few Mint Leaves
Few Coriander Leaves
Salt to taste
Oil for frying

For Batter

3 tsp all purpose flour
½ cup Water
Pinch of Salt


Firstly, heat a pan and roast Cumin Seeds, Cloves, Cinnamon, Cardamom and Black pepper. Let them cool down and then grind them in a mixer grinder to make a coarse mixture. Your fresh garam masala powder is ready. Keep this aside.

Take a bowl and mix all purpose flour, salt and water to make a smooth batter. Check the consistency of the batter it should have the same consistency as we require to make Indian pakodas. Keep this batter aside. Now take onions, green chilles, mint leaves, fresh coriander leaves and chop them finely. Take paneer and crumble it, also mash the boiled peas and potatoes and keep aside.

Take a big vessel and keep water for boiling, add some salt to the water. Once the water starts boiling dip cabbage leaves in it two or three at a time. Cover it with a lid and cook for about 5 minutes then remove from the water. Drain and keep aside. This way blanch all the cabbage leaves and keep aside.

Procedure To Make Stuffed Cabbage rolls

Take a pan and heat oil in it. Add finely chopped green chilles and onions. Fry till the onions turns brown. Then add mashed green peas and potatoes. Fry for 2-3 minutes. Add freshly prepared garam masala, salt, red chilli powder and crumbled paneer.

Continue frying for about 5 minutes. Remove from flame and add finely chopped mint and coriander leaves, lemon juice and mix gently. Let the mixture cool down. Now divide filling into 10 equal portions. Lay out a blanched cabbage leaf and carefully remove centre part of the leaf very thinly by slicing it.

Take one portion of the stuffing and put on one edge of the cabbage leaf and roll carefully turning in the edges lightly. Repeat the same procedure with the remaining cabbage leaves. Heat a pan and drizzle some oil on it.

Dip each roll in the flour batter which is already prepared then roll in bread crumbs and shallow fry, carefully turning it over when one side is done. Arrange these spicy and crispy stuffed cabbage rolls on a plate. Serve hot with tomato ketchup or any chutney of your choice.
