How to Use Yoga To Fight Depression - Easy Yoga Postures for Depression » Yoga Tips: Poses For DepressionAll of us have experienced bad days – those days when nothing seems to go right and your energy is very low. But if these symptoms go on for a long period of time, it can turn into depression. Depression affects many aspects of your life, including your social life and eating habits. This condition also causes insomnia and stress.

You can overcome depression in many ways. Talk to your doctor and he will decide the best way for you. You can also find yoga and meditation techniques that will help you relax and feel energized.

The two most common yoga poses that will help relieve stress and depression are the Mountain pose and the Sun Salutation pose.

The Mountain pose requires no movement. You need to stand perfectly still with your feet together and arms next to your body. Your back needs to be straight; push your hips forward.

The Sun Salutation pose includes a total of eleven positions that succeed one another in order to make you feel energized and relaxed. From the Mountain pose, bring your hands together in front of your chest and exhale. Stretch your arms above your head and push your hips forward. Do this while inhaling and be careful not to bend your legs. Then exhale while bending, until your hands touch the floor. If you can’t manage without bending your knees, then feel free to bend them.

Take a deep breath while bringing your knees close to the chest. Then lift your chin while exhaling. Inhale and get into a position as if you are about to do push ups; face the floor. Exhale and touch the floor with your knees, chest and forehead. While inhaling, touch the floor with your hips and arch your back; lift your chin. As you exhale, raise your hips. Inhale and return to position four, then to the third position. Inhale and stretch back, but remain comfortable. Finally, exhale and return to the Mountain pose.

There are many other Yoga positions that you can use. It is best to go to a Yoga class because a specialist will guide you better through the poses. And remember that Yoga does not cure depression alone, so if your physician recommended other treatments, be sure to follow them as indicated.
