Now spread the above mix which you have already prepared on the masala papad evenly. Your hot and yummy masala papad is ready. Now run to the kitchen and try this out.

Potato Bonda

Peel the skin of potatoes. Cut it and cook it in the microwave for 20 minutes with some salt added to it. If you do not have a microwave you can cook potatoes in a cooker also. Remove the water. Mash the potatoes in a masher.

In a pan add 2 spoons of groundnut oil or olive oil and heat it. Remember, olive oil is extremely good for health, but is a bit costlier than groundnut oil. Add 1 spoon of full of cumin seeds.

You can hear to the cumin seeds making sounds and turning black. Allow it to become completely black. If it is still red in color it will be bitter to taste. So wait till it becomes black but don’t allow it to char.

Add the mashed potatoes to the oil with cumin seeds. Add salt to taste. Add coriander leaves which are washed and cut to this. Add gram powder, salt, Chilly powder, asafoetida-Hing, little amount of rice flour to make it crispy. Make it as a thin paste.

Heat groundnut oil. Make the above said things in the form of a ball and leave it in the oil. Keep changing the sides, so that it fries properly and becomes crispy.

For people who are very diet conscious, place these bondas on a plate covered with paper napkin. All the oil present in the bonda will be absorbed by the napkin. Now your hot bonda’s are ready.

You can serve it with any chutney.

Vegetable bonda

You can try this out with different vegetables also. Using a mixture of grated carrot, beans etc makes it taste really good. This is called vegetable bonda.
