This is not only for the young guys out there but for those not-so-young nearing their retirement too. It is never too late to become physically active. This is the only way to keep illness at bay. Sedentary lifestyles have been proven to be the bane of our very existence. So begin today, start with things you really enjoy. You should try walking the dog, if you have one or borrow friends if you don’t. Keep yourself busy doing a bit of gardening everyday if you cannot take a bicycle out for a ride.

Now I am not suggesting that you get out there and play a football match like you are playing for the world cup against Pele. What I am saying is that physical exercise needs to be a part of your daily routine. Enough to make you sweat a bit and breathe harder. Some brisk walking for 30 minutes will suffice for beginners. Do this for a month or two then move on to better exercises – though many will argue that there is no better exercise than walking – take it from me, 90% of those guys are glued to their buts most of the day and never walk to the kitchen to get themselves a drink most of the time.

You will soon discover that being physically active for 30 to 60 minutes everyday will rejuvenate you and replenish your system with renewed energy levels. You will also fins that you are more relaxed and free from a lot of stress apart from improving your sleep cycles.

If you have reached the age of 30 and have not kept very active it is high time you reconsidered. Getting physically active will decrease the risk of you developing diabetes, heart ailments, colon cancer, osteoporosis and that silent killer hypertension.

You will also be gifting you something no one else can – a healthy retired life.
