Shavige Payasa – Sevai Payasa

Ingredients Required

Sevai, ghee, dry grapes, water, cashew nuts, cardammom, sugar and milk.

Instructions to Make Savage Payasa

Fry sevai in 2 tea spoons of ghee till it turns golden brown. In a vessel add water, cardammom powder and 1 measure of sugar for every 2 measures of sevai and boil it. Dip the fried sevai into this. Mix it well with constant stirring till the sevai becomes really soft. Now add milk to this and allow it to get mixed properly.

Fry dry grapes in ghee. Wait till it gets puffed up completely. Add cut cashew nuts to this. Allow it to turn golden brown and remove this from the stove. Mix this to the sevai.

Your savage payasa is ready.

Kheer

Ingredients Required

Sevai, ghee, dry grapes, cashew nuts, cardammom, sugar and milk.

Instructions to Make Kheer

Fry sevai in ghee till it turns golden brown. In a vessel add milk, yellakki powder and 1 measure of sugar for every 2 measures of sevai and dip the fried sevai into this. Mix it well with constant stirring till the sevai becomes really soft. See to that there is no milk standing on the sevai. Fry dry grapes in ghee. Wait till it gets puffed up completely. Add cut cashew nuts to this. Allow it to turn golden brown and remove this from the stove. Mix this to the sevai.

Your kheer is ready. You can serve it hot or cool it in a refrigerator and serve it. Both of them give very different tastes.

These payasas are easy to make. The whole procedure takes only 10 minutes. This can be done when there are some sudden guests coming home or for any special occasion.

Payasam is very famous in south India and in North India Kheer is done as a sweet.
