Tips from my personal experience to avoid gossip traps are : -

1) Try not to discuss your personal life at office. Maintain a demarcation between office talks and personal talks.

2) The root cause of gossip is misunderstanding . Try to solve that misunderstanding to avoid gossiping.

3) Arrange regular meetings with staff to keep yourself updated with staff general views.

4) Try to keep your staff busy with work they like . Arrange competitions and functions to make environment joyful.

5) Periodically, honor your staff with rewards they deserve .

Gossips has a great effect on the efficiency of people working in organization. There will be decrease turnover because more of the time is wasted sitting in canteens. Image of company gets damaged which results in prolonged vacancies.

Gossip is not a new worm. Everyone somehow gets infected with this parasite. So, try to be like a boat blowing in water. Be, in water but don’t get drown in it .
