A free radical is an unstable atom that has lost one free electron and has become positively ionized and will remain that way until it regains an electron from a weaker shell of a nearby atom. While this free radical is in this unstable state looking for a free electron to make up for its instability it will be ready to react, and quite violently too with other stable atoms near and around it. It is this reaction with other normal atoms that causes a great deal of damage to living tissue. So, the best remedy for this is to reduce the number of free radicals in the system as possible.

Where do the free radicals come from in the first place? Free radicals are made by our systems, believe it or not. The very basic process of digesting our food generates free radicals. Another source of free radicals is the medication we take. You can imagine the amount of free radicals you are gulping down in the form of medications; your system does not even have to make them anymore. Then there is the pollution that contributes to the number of free radicals in the skin.

The more the number of free radicals the more the number of health problems you will face. One very prominent outcome of free radicals in out body is the process of aging. Free radicals are the sole cause of aging. The process if aging cannot be completely stopped it can be slowed down to a great extent. There is only one thing and one thing alone that is known to combat free radicals and that is ‘Antioxidants’.

So, if you want to get rid of those wrinkles forming on your skin, and if you want to live a healthier life, you should first keep as far away from pollution as possible, take as few medications as you can and drink a lot of green tea without adding sugar and milk. Half a teaspoon in a cup of boiling water and allow it to soak for two minutes. Drink this as a tonic once in the morning and once on the evening. Do not eat or drink anything for half an hour before or after the drink. You will definitely see a difference in the first 2 weeks – here’s to a healthier life free from free radicals!
