Summer Beauty Problems

A look at few of the problems that affect the skin in the scorching heat of this season and how to address them:

Heat Rash

Heat rash is an irritation is a result of excessive sweating during the summer season. It primarily caused by excessive heat and humidity. To combat this condition wear loose clothes made of natural fabrics. After a bath do not rub harshly with a towel to dry. Use calamine and cold compress in case of heat rash. Do not use creams; instead try using some homemade packs for the skin like a paste of sandalwood powder and rosewater or you could take a bath in water boiled with neem leaves. These have a soothing effect. You could also try a pack made from ground clove, cucumber paste, sandalwood powder and neem.

This is caused by excessive exposure to the harmful UV rays from the sun. This not just burns the skin but also causes tiredness and mild dizziness. Make a paste using a little of fuller’s earth, honey and ground clove. Apply
to the affected area and keep it on for 20 minutes before washing it off. Another effective paste is a mixture of ground orange peels (dried) and milk. It should be applied on the face and neck and kept on for about 5 minutes
before washing off.

Sun Spots

These are hyper pigmented brown spots on the skin that has been exposed excessively to the sun. Try and stay indoors from 10 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. And if you have to go out then make sure that you use an umbrella, a sunscreen with proper SPF and a sunglass. Eat food items rich in anti-oxidants, which will protect you against free-radical damage.
