Ways to keep Hypotension under control

Lifestyle changes
Have a healthy eating plan. Good amount of physical activity, weight control, managing and coping up with stress and quitting smoking will help to keep hypotension under control.

When you get up from bed sit for a minute or two and then get up since the BP drops down immediately if you hurry up. While sleeping keep the head of the bed slightly elevated. Unnecessary worries and excessive stress should be stopped.

Walking, swimming, cycling will help controlling low BP to a very large extent. Making the person lay down on his back and lifting his legs may also work sometimes

Sodium intake
Increase your sodium intake in the diet. This reduces mild symptoms of hypotension. Mix a teaspoon of salt in water and drink it. If you do not like more salt in food then you can try eating soy sauce. This will instantly increase the BP.

Water treatment
Increase Water intake as much as possible. This avoids dehydration and increases blood volume.

Eat small quantities of food every two hours once. This prevents BP from dropping sharply. Have very nutritious diet which is rich in protein, vitamin c and vitamin B. These vitamins get the adrenal gland into good speed which in turn increases BP.
Less intake of carbohydrate rich food such as bread, rice, spaghetti, fruits like banana, blueberries, dates and grapes, vegetables like beans, carrot and corns will also help.

Alcohol intake
Stop alcohol intake completely. Even a very small amount of alcohol dehydrates the body which in turn increases risk of BP dropping down.

Home remedies
Soak 20 raisins overnight in water and chew them one by one early in the morning. Later drink the water.

Soak 7 almonds overnight in water. Peel and make a paste. Add with milk. Boil and drink warm.

Stick to non-alcoholic drinks.

Crush 10-15 basil leaves and stain using muslin cloth. Mix with one table spoon of honey and have it first thing in the morning.
