If you don’t have buttermilk and still you want to make buttermilk pancake then you can replace buttermilk with a cup of milk to which one tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar is added.

How to Make Buttermilk Pancakes

1. Take a large bowl and to this bowl add one and one fourth cup of flour. To this add one teaspoon baking soda & two teaspoon baking powder. Sieve this mixture twice or thrice to avoid lumps. Now add half teaspoon salt and four tablespoon sugar to the above mixture. Mix the whole ingredients very well and keep it aside.

2. Get another large bowl and beat two eggs in the bowl. Now add two and a half cup buttermilk, one teaspoon of vanilla extract and one fourth cup of melted butter. Mix the ingredients very well to form a fine mixture. Rather than adding the whole egg you can separate the egg white and beat them separately. Add this egg white to the final batter and it will make the pancake fluffier.

3. Add the powder mixture to this egg, buttermilk and butter mixture and mix then well. Try to remove lumps while mixing the ingredients. Never beat the mixture too much as it will make the pancake hard.

4. Place a frying pan on top of the stove or cooking range and keep it in a medium heat. Add a little oil to the pan. You can also add butter instead of the oil.

5. Scoop a good amount of the pancake batter and pour it over the frying pan. Cook the batter in the pan for about three minutes or till the bubbles begin to spatter at the top of the pancake. Then turn the pancake with a spatula and allow the other side to cook for another one minute. Fry your pancake to a golden brown color.

Now you can serve your pancake with syrup and butter and also with fruits.
