'Tron: Legacy' Takes Top Spot At Weekend Box Office

1980s sci fi flick “Tron” had many takers this weekend at the box office as it came out to rank topmost on weekend box office collections. “Tron Legacy” is a take on the 1982 movie “Tron” starring Jeff Bridges and newcomer Garrett Hedlund.

The sci fi flick had many takers and the movie raked in $43.6 million. The movie with its hi tech sci fi stunts and adventurous and engrossing tale had audiences coming back to the theatres in droves.

The lovable cartoon “Yogi Bear” made his presence felt at second palce at the weekend box office. The movie has been shot on the live action, CGI –assited technology and was the next most popular choice after “Tron Legacy” even though it was way behind “Tron Legacy” when it came to box office collections. ‘Yogi Bear” managed $16.7 million in box office collections.

The animated movie about the lovable and mischievous Yogi bear and his partner in crime Boo Boo has a contemporary take to it and has fun and new adventures of the two friends who are always on the lookout to grab an unguarded picnic basket. Also memorable voicing by Justin Timberlake and Dan Aykroyd adds to the overall appeal of the animated cartoon film.

“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” managed to stick to third place in its second week at the theatres. Originally written by C.S. Lewis, the book’s adaptation to the big screen grossed $12.4 million this weeknd at the box office. This takes the films total haul at the box office since its release to $ 42.7 million.

Mark Wahlberg directed “The Fighter”, which is based on the life of a boxer born and brought up in Massachusetts, came in fourth at the box office this weekend. Performances form well known stars like Christian Bale and Amy Adams pulled crowds tot eh theatres as the film made $12.2 million in box office collections over the weekend. Rounding up the top five, “The Tourist” starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp stood at number five in box office collections this weekend with $8.7 million.
