Winter hair care tips – Avoid Overuse of Shampoo, Hairdryer and Curling Irons | Tips on - Find TipsWinter wrecks havoc on the hair. The dry and cold season robs the hair of its moisture and leaves it dry and full of static. Experts have given preventive measures which should be followed religiously so that your hair does not have to face the damaging effects of the climate.

Following these basic tips will keep your hair healthy and bouncing all through this wintry season.

1. Moisturize

Since winter has a drying effect on the hair it is very necessary to moisturize your hair on a regular basis. Treating your hair to a hot-oil massage once a week is a must. Before shampooing your hair, massage it with hot oil for at least 5 minutes and leave it on for another 10 minutes to help the scalp absorb the oil. Pure coconut oil is the best massage oil for this purpose. You can also use a conditioner of a reputed brand.

2. Avoid frequent use of shampoo

People often make the mistake of shampooing their hair too often as a result of which the hair tends to become all the more brittle. So, use of shampoo every alternate day should serve the purpose without causing any damage.

3. Protection from the harsh weather

Never go out with your hair open during this season . Always remember to cover your hair with a silk scarf, a hat or a cap. Avoid the woolen ones, as they are not good for the hair. Also be sure not to tie the scarf very tight
else it will restrict circulation.

4. Using the right product

You should keep in mind your hair type before selecting your hair-product. This will help to improve the overall health of your hair.

5. Avoid overuse of hairdryer and curling irons

Using your dryer too often will only contribute to brittle and damaged hair . Use it as less as possible and try the ‘cool’ setting. This will have a less damaging effect on your hair . ‘Hot’ items, as curling irons, should also be used limitedly.

6. How to deal with static

The easiest way to deal with static is to spray a little of a hair spray on your hairbrush and to brush through the hair from top to bottom.
