Here are a few essential tips to take care of your skin the right way during winters. Follow these tips for healthy looking, radiant and stress free skin which is less prone to contract the above mentioned ailments.

Regular Cleansing: Winters tend to make oily complexions more hydrated and dry complexions more dehydrated. The only way to combat this issue is to wash the face regularly, preferably twice or even thrice a day.

Use a good quality soap or face wash and rinse with luke warm water if you happen to get wet in the rain. Use soft towels to pat your face dry after washing.

Heavy Makeup: Stay away from heavy foundations, thick creams and oily bases as much as possible. Sweat can damper your make up and hinder the process of applying makeup as well. To keep your face fresh and sweat free until you finish applying makeup, rub some ice cubes on your face.

Moisturizing: Just washing the face will have no effect on dehydrated and over hydrated skin if you don’t follow up with a good moisturizer.  You can apply a good moisturizer as soon as you come out of the shower for better results.

Moisturizers that contain oatmeal are recommended for dehydrated skin and help in locking the moisture content within the body for longer periods. Alternatively, you can also use baby oil.

Avoid Fungal Infections: Fungal infections are hard to get rid of once they start occuring. The best way to take care of fungal infections would be to avoid them in the first place.

Opt for open sandals or floaters in contrast to closed shoes, sneakers and even socks. If your feet get wet outside, make sure to wash them with hot water as soon as you reach home. Use a good soap to wash the feet and pat them dry immediately afterwards.

Follow a good diet: The best way to maintain a radiant complexion during winters and monsoons is to eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Try to drink at least 6 – 8 glasses of water everyday during winters. In addition to revitalising your skin and making it look young, water detoxifies your body and cleanses it.

A drink you definitely need to avoid during winters is coffee and other related caffeinated drinks. These drinks deplete excess water in the body by urination. In addition to this, drinking too much of caffeinated drinks can de hydrate you quickly which in turn leads to dryness, irritation and exhaustion.

Purpose of Humdifiers: Humdifiers are used in homes and other places to keep the atmosphere moist. This in turn can keep the skin hydrated and nourished. You can purchase a good quality humdifier from a retail store. Alternatively, you can prepare a humdifier at home.

All you need to do is to boil a pan of water and then keep it open. This allows the water in the pot to steam upon which the moisture content in the air in your home is retained and your skin retains its natural glow without drying up, cracking or peeling.
